Welcome to Rocky's Nest Hamsters

We breed Syrian hamsters to the standards of the California Hamster Association and are currently working under mentorship with Poppy Bee Hamstery and Fairy Garden Hamsters.

Our mission is to provide potential owners the opportunity to adopt a hamster who comes from a line bred for the best health and temperament, while being raised with the highest husbandry standards. Our hamsters are all pedigreed, and will come with a birth certificate. Our dream is that someday all hamsters will be adopted via ethical breeders, not big chain pet stores, where they're acquired from mills who breed solely for profit, provide no human interaction, and have little to no regard for the animals' welfare. Too often these are the hamsters who end up in rescues and shelters.

We believe in rescue first, but when that is not an option, we hope that you will choose an ethical hamstery like ours when you make that important decision to become a hamster owner.

All of our hamsters are kept in enclosures that meet or exceed 775 square inches of unbroken floor space. The lab blocks we feed are Envigo Teklad 8604 (for our pups and pregnant or nursing mothers) and Envigo Teklad 2018 (for our hamsters over 6 months old). Our hamsters are also given seed mix every other day. We use both Robin's Gourmet and Hamster Eatery's mixes made specifically for Syrian hamsters. In addition, we provide fresh fruits and vegetables several times per week.

Our pups will get lots of love and human interaction and handling starting when they are 2 weeks of age and they've opened their eyes. Mother & pups will be left alone prior to this time, other than adding food to the enclosure. By the time they're ready to go their new homes, they will be very used to human hands.
